FRANCAIS : Voici une porte au RDC qui deviendra - un jour - l'entrée principale de l'espace commun de notre maison. Cette partie de la maison et le cadre de la porte date du 13ème siècle.
Elle n'est pas commode, certes, car se trouve sous un escalier en pierre mais qui toute mème trop ancien pour être détruit sans offenser l'âme de la maison.
Pour refaire cette porte voudrais utiliser un maximum de verre, car c'est face nord et il 'n y a qu'une seule autre fenêtre de ce coté, et c'est à 10m de là.
Je suis donc tentée par l'idée de faire faire une porte en acier. Non seulement la superficie de verre serait augmenté, on pourra mieux mettre en valeur la pierre autour.
Ce serait donc artisanal, et je ne sais pas si double-vitrage serait une option, en tout cas pas double vitrage moderne (vide hermétique, ou gaz, etc).
Dimensions d'ouverture sous arche : 215cm (225 actuellement, mais un seuil de 15cm est nécessaire)

ENGLISH : This door is on the ground floor of a part of the house and which will - one day - be the main entrance to the houses common areas. The foundations and this door opening are from 13th century.
It's not a very convenient entrance, as it is situated under a stone stairway which is not 13th century (I don't think), but which is old enough to merit protection.
To replace this door, I believe it is very important that we use a maximum glass, as it is on the north side of the house and there is very little light from any other source than another window on the same side and which is 10m /30ft away,
I am tempted to have a local craftsman make us a steel frame door, which would not only allow a maximum glass surfarce area, but better expose the beautiful rock structure around the door.
On the other hand, I'm not sure if double glazing will be possible, or certainly not "modern", with hermetically sealed vaccuum or whatever.
DIMENSIONS : Opening height from Arch 210cm (currently 226cm, but we need to raise the threshold 15cm for threshold for several reasons.
Any ideas or suggestions ?
